Shirt Design
consumer product re-design

July 24, 2012

For the past five consecutive summers, I returned to the Outer Banks (NC) as a researcher at the US Army Corps of Engineers Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory. I conducted public tours in the morning and assisted with various other field data collection and processing. We sold t-shirts to those that were interested after each tour. The design of the shirt hadn’t been changed for a while so I took it upon myself to design a new shirt using my new found skills on Photoshop. The new design I created is being used in a new set of shirts which is now being sold at the end of tours. The main design I used for the back of the shirt can be found below.

The three vehicles incorporated in the design are responsible for most of the data capture that the facility analyzes; earning themselves a spot on the shirt. The facility is also known to have the longest research pier in the world extending 1,840 ft into the surf; hence it's presence in the design.
