Popsicle Stick Tower
design & prototyping

January 31, 2008

This project involved the construction of a tower made entirely from popsicle sticks and Elmer’s glue. Each group of two students had to construct a tower to maximize a strength-to-weight ratio; restrictions on height, weight, and base width were also given.

Here's a top down view of our tower, which stood just under 12 inches tall.

Our tower, still in the record books at Washington International School, held over 2,075 times its own weight (92.8g) without breaking. It was so heavy we ran out of weights!
